Jesus is Watching You

A burglar broke into a home and was looking around. He heard a soft voice say, "Jesus is watching you". Thinking it was just his imagination he continued his search. Again the voice said, "Jesus is watching you". He turned his flashlight around and saw a parrot in a cage. He asked the parrot if he was the one talking and the parrot said, "yes." He asked the parrot what his name was and the parrot said, "Moses." The burglar asked, "What kind of people would name a parrot Moses?" The parrot said, "The same kind of people who would name their German Shepherd Jesus".

I saw this little joke on the Internet and I’m still chuckling! Maybe it’s because I grew up with German Shepherds. Once, our German Shepherd, Baron, chased a meter reader around the side of the house. The man was carrying a large stick with which to defend himself against such threats. After some barking and cursing, Baron trotted back to the front yard carrying the man’s stick.

We all perceive threats differently. We seem to defend ourselves against that which frightens us but neglect that which can truly harm us. Normally we are afraid of the unknown and yet comfortable with the familiar. But what happens when the ‘familiar’ is unhealthy or dangerous? How can we grow if fear of the unknown paralyzes us?

May you find the courage and wisdom to leave behind unhealthy and familiar habits and embark on new adventures. Yes, Jesus is watching and you have nothing to fear.

See you Sunday,
Missy
