Attitude
Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:8-9)
One of the greatest challenges we face as Christians is attitude. We live in a world that seems to deserve scrutiny and judgment. As a matter of fact, we tend to find “pre-judgment a necessary part of doing business in this dangerous world. The problem with submitting to these thoughts is that our hearts follow close behind. We are transformed by our attitudes. We all need an attitude adjustment. That’s how we grow.
Our attitudes about others, our family, our careers and about God all have serious consequences. They shape our actions and our character. What types of thoughts run through your mind? Positive and life giving? Or do you see the world through darkness? It takes discipline to transform your mind. Bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, (2 Cor. 2:5)
If you embark on this challenge to reshape your attitude I advise you not to try it alone. Find a prayer partner. Meet regularly to talk about the week. Hold each other accountable and pray for one another. This transformation takes time and prayer. Remember to be gentle with yourself and have faith that Christ can give you the gentle spirit you are striving for. And may the God of peace be with you now and forever.
See you Sunday!
