Grace
I’ve shared this prayer with you before. It’s my favorite because it reminds me to respond to God’s free gift of grace. While God’s grace is freely given to us, it isn’t cheap. It cost Jesus everything. Our response is a result of the power of the Holy Spirit given to us.
We love because he first loved us. (I John 4:19)
A Prayer for Today
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Creator, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
St. Francis of Assisi
I invite you to take this prayer and make it your own. Print it out. Put it on the fridge. Put it in your phone. Memorize it. May it shape your life.
