Seasons
I am so excited about Fall this year! Summer felt like it was going to last forever! I don’t think I could have stood one more hot day! I guess when one season gets to be intolerable, we find our hope in the season to come. Life is a little like that as well.
Maybe that’s why God gave us the seasons. A natural, predictable rhythm to our lives. Each season brings its own personality of blessings and curses. With the cool weather we inevitably have to endure longer nights and rainy days. No season is perfect. The seasons of our lives are much the same way. Each one bringing its own blessings and “curses”. And so, we pine for years gone by and hope for better days to come. I think God can teach us a bit about this “grass is always greener” mentality if we pay attention to the rhythm of the seasons.
There is a built-in rhythm to God’s creation. The sun rises, the sun sets. The moon waxes and wanes. The tides ebb and flow. We are born and enter into this rhythm whether we realize it or not. So, if you are in a season of your life that seems to bring more curse than blessing remember the bigger picture. God has not abandoned you. You are simply in the rhythm of life. God knows how to dance to this rhythm and is inviting you to join in. And as we say in the South, “If you don’t like the weather just wait a minute…” In the meantime, get out there and dance!
See you Sunday!
