Stop & Reflect

O give thanks to the Lord, call on his name, make known his deeds among the peoples.
Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wonderful works.
Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually. ~Psalm 105:1-4

I could simply instruct you to ‘go and do’ what the psalmist says in this passage. But first I want you to ‘stop and reflect.’ Take each line of this beautiful psalm and spend some time with it. You might spend several minutes in the presence of God in deep, meaningful prayer just giving thanks. The next time you sit with this passage you might simply call on the name of the LORD for strength, mercy and grace.

This could be the beginning of a fresh and deeper relationship with God. We are transformed by such a relationship. Soon you might find yourself sharing your personal experiences of ‘his deeds’ with others. From here our spirits soar with singing, rejoicing and thanksgiving.

This is not a one-time effort however. We must ‘seek his presence continually.’ Why? Because this life is distracting and often difficult. If you want to go it alone through life, that’s your choice. If you want a heart that rejoices, I simply instruct you to ‘stop and reflect’ on this passage. Then GO and DO.

See you Sunday!
