Clutter

Have you ever felt as if your life is cluttered? If you’re like me, you may be debating whether to clean out that bedroom closet or just burn it down and start over! We all feel that way at some point about some aspect of our lives. You look around your home, or your desk, or your calendar and feel swamped and buried in clutter.

Getting rid of the clutter is important so that things eternal can shine into our daily thoughts and lives. This process can be a chore or it can be a rich spiritual experience. How?

Spend time in prayer over the clutter in your life. Sit with God and let him decide what is treasure and what is trash on your desk, on your calendar, or in your closet. This process cleans your soul from materialism, pride, greed and fear. These are the reasons we ‘hoard’ things, people and events. It can be a little painful, but it is well worth it!

Once you and God deal with the clutter in your mind and heart then it’s time to deal with it physically. Go and do. Get up. Grab a trash bag and start pitching. As you de-clutter your life, you will see the most amazing transformation occur. You can see the closet floor again! But more importantly, you can see God again.

Our closets aren’t the only things that get cluttered over time. God is waiting to renew whatever is cluttering your life. May you be transformed by the adventure!

See you Sunday!
