Happy New Year

Am I the only one wondering what happened to 2022? Amazing how time flies, isn’t it? Why is that? I think, for many of us, our lives are spent in constant concern about getting things done. When that happens, time slips by like sand through our fingers. So what are we to do?

‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.” (Luke 12:22-23)

Jesus advises his disciples to not give into the distractions and worries of the day. Of course we have to think about what we will eat and wear, but such trivial things should never worry us. So, if Jesus believes that food and clothing are not worthy of our constant concern, what else should we throw on the scrap pile of needless worry? What did you spend the past year worrying about? Was it worth it?

Jesus goes on to tell us why we shouldn’t waste our time in a constant state of worry.

For it is the nations of the world that strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, strive for his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. (Luke 12:30-31)

May the New Year bring a fresh perspective to your life. Give your concerns to your Father in heave and strive for God’s will to be done. I guarantee you’ll still be busy, but you will not be disappointed!

See you Sunday!
