LOVE

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends.

Love is not easy. We all fall short of Christ’s command for us to love one another. We are constantly expecting others to freely show us love and forgiveness. Yet our love is often reserved for those who ‘deserve’ it. Who is more deserving of love? The war hero or the felon? The drug dealer or the physician? The prostitute or the pastor? The atheist or the church goer?

Romans 5:8
But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.

Love. Nothing so universally powerful is free or cheap or easy. God’s love for us has a name in Greek. Agape – The desire for another to be all that God created them to be. This is the kind of love that bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things and endures all things. It is not earned or deserved. It is Grace. And God is the source of this power.

John 13:34
I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.

May the power of God’s love fill you and overflow into the world around you.

See you Sunday!
