Most of us are guilty of this. We run to the internet to diagnose an ailment. Used sparingly this can be a useful practice. But if we get too carried away, we can self-diagnose ourselves into a panic. Doctors, nurses and other health professionals take our “medical expertise” in stride. Bless them. They have heard everything under the sun based on Dr. Google’s diagnosis.

We are curious creatures. When something is wrong we search for a way to make it right. But without proper knowledge, training, or understanding we are limited in our ability to fix some problems. Wisdom is knowing what you don’t know and willingness to seek help. There are folks out there who dedicate their lives to the practice of medicine, law, teaching, plumbing, dog grooming, and countless other disciplines. Why not go to the one qualified to make it right.

When life becomes chaotic, we attempt to make it right by our own force of will and hard work. We may even consult the internet for help. I do the same honestly. But Wisdom is found in knowing what you don’t know. There is One who knows you better than you know yourself.

O Lord, you have searched me and known me.
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
   you discern my thoughts from far away.
You search out my path and my lying down,
   and are acquainted with all my ways.
(Psalm 139:1-3)

May you find the wisdom and courage to seek out the One who is qualified to make it right.

See you Sunday
