Advent

Peace, Love, Joy, and Hope. These are the themes of Advent. Admirable ideas to be sure; but what do they mean to you? Yes, the world is in desperate need of Peace and Love because these bring forth Joy, right? And this is our Hope, yes? But what does this mean to you, here, now, today?

Where is your life hungry for Peace? How are you suffering from an absence of Love? Where is your Joy to be found? Is there Hope? Lots of Questions, I know. But sometimes finding the right answers comes from asking the correct questions. Let’s ask ourselves different questions.

Where can we be Peace-makers? Where can we offer Love in the face of hatred? Into what dark places can we bring Joy and Hope? The season of Advent is a time of acknowledging that the darkness is all around us. Yet proclaiming the coming of the Light.

In the beginning God, the creator, hovered over the darkness and chaos of the world and spoke the Word, “Let there be Light!” God hovered over the manger and proclaimed again, “Let there be Light!” In this truth we find our Peace, Love, Joy, and Hope. Let’s not keep this message to ourselves.

See you Sunday!
