Genuine

Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers. Romans 12:9-13

According to Paul, these are just a few of the marks of the “true Christian.” Oh, how often we fall short of these principles. In these strange days, aka 2020, we find ourselves in a world of fear, uncertainty, and animosity. The world tells us to be careful. This is wise. There is another message though, “Be afraid.” This is a dangerous trap for any society to fall prey to. Especially as Christians!

Paul’s message to the church in Rome 2000 years ago echo’s across time and space to the church today. Fear threatens our ability to genuinely show love and honor to one another. Fear has the power to keep us from serving the Lord with zeal. We are unable to do Christianity without faith in Christ.

May you be assured in these strange days that the one who laid down his life for his friends is the One who holds us close in love. With that assurance, let us go out and Be the Church to one another.

See you Sunday!
