Why does God love us?

Why does God Love us?

If you truly think about it, some little part of you believes that God loves us because we are ‘good.’ But then think it through a little more and you know that nobody is ‘good enough’ to earn God’s love. That’s when the age old lesson of “God’s Grace” kicks in. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) But does God love the “bad people”?

If we read the stories of our favorite Biblical heroes we will realize something amazing.

Abraham was an idol worshiper and God loved him and pursued him;
Joseph was a narcissistic boy and God loved him and pursued him;
David was a murdering adulterer and God loved him and pursued him;

Our heroes weren’t loved because they were good; they were good because they were loved. I would venture a guess that God has pursued every villain in history. Some responded to God’s love and became heroes in God’s kingdom. Others did not accept God’s love and willingly committed terrible atrocities.

Why does God love us? Because God is love. God loves and pursues each of us every single day. It is up to us to respond to that love, accept it and be transformed every day of our lives. It is up to us to spread this good news to all - especially our villains.

See you Sunday!
