“How was your Christmas?”

This is the question we ask folks in the days following December 25th.  But it is actually the wrong question. The question should be, “How IS your Christmas?” Christmas is a twelve-day celebration that ends with Epiphany on January 6th. It’s a time to reflect on the incarnation of Christ. A time to meditate on the meaning of God entering this world to dwell among us. A time to ask ourselves, “How does this miracle impact my life, here and now?”

This is a celebration! Because God loves this world, he came. He took on flesh and dove head-long into our midst. Jesus experienced life as we do. He knew what it was to be cold, tired and hungry. He knew pain, both physically and emotionally. He experienced grief and loss, laughter and joy, and everything in between. He faced all that evil had to offer.

God’s love for us knows no bounds. God’s power over death is absolute. Christ knows our joys and understands our suffering. What kind of God is this? That is the question for us to ponder. The greatest gift we can open this Christmas is a deeper understanding of God’s love. May you be blessed as you ponder this miracle.

See You Sunday!
